What are some remedies for severe back acne due to pregnancy?
I am now in my third trimester and my acne only on my back has never been worse. I know why it happens and know it will go away soon since i have few weeks left. But my baby shower is coming up and I have a strapless dress, as well as my baby belly photo shoot (I know photoshop,) but does anyone have any remedies to share with me because just washing constantly doesn't seem to be working.
i used clearasil face wash on my back during my pregnancy and it worked wondersss i also increased my water intake at the same time… hope it helps have fun at your baby shower
actually to much washing drys out the skin and can make acne worse. Vinegar or witch hazel are two things I use that help with the acne without really drying out my skin.
Boil 1 cup of water and add 2-3 teaspoons of dried basil leaves. Steep the basil leaves for 10-20 minutes. Let it cool and dab your dried basil solution on the acne.
My first suggestion would be to only wash once per day. Washing too much will dry your skin, tricking it to produce more oil, thus causing more acne. So, wash once in the shower using a cleanser your skin responds well to. And don’t use a cleanser that has any alcohol or fragrance in it.
Other things you may want to try:
Benzoyl peroxide is great for acne prone skin if used regularly. No need to go with high concentrations, 2.5% is usually sufficient. 10% solutions can dry you out too much (again causing more acne because your skin will produce more oil). The only problem with BP is that it will bleach fabric so you may want to try this instead:
Get a spray bottle and mix a water / vinegar solution. Apple cider vinegar is good but you can use regular vinegar as well. I use a 1:1 ratio but you can use less vinegar if you’d like (depending on how bad your breakouts are). Then, spray the problem areas at night before you go to bed then shower in the morning. If you normally shower at night, go ahead and still spray it. The "vinegary" smell should dissipate but you may still want to wash off with a wash cloth in the morning. This can be very helpful for your back.
Finally, I would exfoliate with a gentle exfoliator – and do it REGULARLY. This depends on your skin type. Exfoliating your skin will help remove dead skin cells that get trapped because of too much sebum (oil) on your skin – causing pores to get clogged…thus forming acne. Most people think that by scrubbing their skin, they will get rid of their blemishes but you could be doing too much. Here’s what I recommend: With oily skin, you should exfoliate 3-5 per week. If you have dry or sensitive skin, only once per week; Normal skin would be everyday.
I hope this helps!!! Good luck to you and best wishes to you and your baby!!!
